Thanks, Robert and Roger X.

I use Outlook and do not want to turn off the autocomplete feature for
email or on the web. I also don't want to dump the whole history, as
90% of it is really useful. I'd just like to remove some entries--in
Outlook as well as web addresses and also log-in information on web
sites where the account names or passwords have changed and don't need
to pop up any longer.

Am I just spoiled and want something that can't be done?

Thanks again,
Marcia

Marcia, yes you are "just spoiled." We shall overlook it this time. If there is a way to remove only selected addresses, as you request, it is unknown to me. RogerX noted that removing History in IE also may remove entries in OE. I doubt that would be the case with Outlook, as it is a completely different program than OE, and not tied to the browser, as OE is. (You carefully concealed the name of your email program previously.) But, it would not hurt. History, and Addresses return at no extra charge, one at a time.

But, if you turn off Auto-Complete, then re-boot the email program, you can start fresh. After a short time, you will have the addresses you wish to keep. D9PFB361" align="baseline" border="0">

Spoiled?? well, ... maybe that's not the exact word I would've
used ...

Actually, I think you might be able to do what you want, if you don't
mind the manual labor ...

You might check your Outlook address book to see if it saved any
misspelled email addresses under the person's name.

Other than that, Outlook is probably storing a lot of the mis-typed
addresses in the Registry ... you could do a search for one of them
using regedit, but it might be stored in binary format, and if so,
you won't find it.

Be sure to observe all the dire warnings about making errors editing
the Registry.

Other than that, where does Outlook keep its memory of people you've
typed to before? I don't know ...

As for "web addresses and also log-in information on web sites";, I'm
not sure where you would find that in Outlook.

If you said you were using Internet Explorer for that, then you could
look through your list of Cookies and Temporary Internet Files
(again, manual labor) and delete any listing for addresses you no
longer want.

Ok, I figured it out ... but be careful ... the answer make make you
feel dumb (it did me!)

To get rid of a misspelled email address in Outlook, open a new email
and start to type the email address. Outlook will offer suggestions
of which email you want to use. Scroll down in the list to the one
you want to get rid of and hit Delete on your keyboard.

Whether you actually send the email, or just close it without saving,
Outlook will no longer remember that wrong address.

Doh!
