Roger X..thanks for your response. Yes, I think you are right that she does not intentionally send attachments. I don't really think she would know how to. I know nothing about the Mac but maybe someone in this group could give a clue.

I would take her at her word that she never (intentionally) sends
them as attachments, or that they come to her that way.
Probably a setting somewhere in her Mac email program that she's not
aware of.
Maybe one of the Mac users here can suggest where she can look. I'm
sure she'd be willing to change it if she knew exactly where to find
it.

Marion, you need to know what she is using to mail you. That is why I
suggested looking in Properties of an email you receive from her. Put on your
best glasses, and you should be able to discern what it is, eg., Apple Mail, and
what version. Perhaps they are similar, in the various versions. But, it would
probably be better if you could sit at her computer.
In the meantime, you can get a sense of it here:
After you set it up, I have a couple of people who need to know how to
forward, as well. Ninety-seven layers of email for one stupid joke!

I have a Mac, and while I don't use it for email...I did look at the email program, at its preferences, and I could see nowhere to create a setting which would forward everything as an attachment.
Marion, can you find out from your friend whether she uses the Mac's built in email program ?(called Mail if she has Leopard) or maybe she's using web-based mail or some 3rd party email client.

Well, if she sends me an email, I can discern the program. It is easy in OE
or Thunderbird, or Yahoo mail.
There is a menu on an intermediate toolbar of my Yahoo version. It says,
"Compact Header." Use the drop down and click, "Full Header." That will tell you
the email version, etc.
