There really isn't much of a kpdf development team any more,
since development
of kpdf stopped with KDE3.
Okular is the functional replacement in KDE4.
I'd suggest that you either put in a bug report (if it is a
bug or security
issue) or ask on the normal channels (e.g. the kde kde.org
mailing list, or
an IRC equivalent).
This isn't the right place for user questions.

You should mail the okular mailinglist. KPDF is renamed to
Okular in KDE 4
check http://okular.kde.org/
(okular-devel kde.org and #okular on IRC)

Or maybe have a look at Okular first, it might address your
issue (the one
you're not telling us ).
Cheers,

i open a 2293 page PDF [1] , do a search on the document and
this
operation results in a machine freeze ( too much memory
usage .. the
hard disk keep running and running , i lose control of the
GUI and
have to reset ) ( AMD Athlon 2.2GHZ 512 MB RAM, 1GB swap,
30GB hd free
space , Pardus Linux 2007.2 with KDE 3.5.7 )
may be this have to do with the "quality" of the
searching
implementation and algorithm that kpdf uses ... for this
reason i
thought that it would be useful to post my experience in
the
kde-quality kde.org list
don't get me wrong, KDE and kpdf rocks ... this is an
"edge" case ( MS
OOXML specification monster

It does work here with KPDF from 3.5.8, but this machine has
2.5 GB of RAM,
searching for "body" takes about 20 seconds. You
can setup KPDF's memory
usage pattern in the config dialogue, not sure if it changes
a lot though.
Did you try other PDF readers, btw?

Hehehe, Urghs. The meaning of that huge document is probably
not to have
people read it, but to have people ignore it, but that's
politics.

on this laptop (2Ghz dual core system, standard laptopy SATA
drive), acroread
takes ~1s to pop up and show that document, okular ~2.5s
(~.5s of that is
okular start up time), kpdf from kde 3.5.9 takes a little
over a second
(1.3-ish?).
acroread takes ~90MB RSS, okular ~36MB RSS, kpdf ~34MB.
okular takes ~30s to search the document for
"katakana", acroread takes ~18s,
kpdf ~19s.
okular and kpdf has the benefit of a less screwed up UI and
has nice features
like opening the document to the page i last left it at.
alos keep in mind that my okular is built with debug symbols
and was spewing a
fair amount of debug output to konsole while doing this
unscientific
measurement.
so all in all, not bad. it seems there's a tradeoff: raw
speed goes to
acroread (though the real wall clock difference is a second
here or there),
but UI and memory usage goes to kpdf/okular.
if any of the above apps are taking 2 minutes to open that
document, though,
there's something rather fishy going on =)
