Thread: KDE 3.5.5, Small browserfonts, too small

KDE 3.5.5, Small browserfonts, too small
user name

KDE 3.5.5
Debian Etch
Nvidia 5200 FX
Iceweasel/firefox 2.0.0.4
1152x86485 Hz

On some Websites (www.t-online.de) the fonts within the
browser-window are terribly small.
I tried to change the fontsize in iceweasel
(properties, settings) also with minimum fontsize and also in
kcontrol (arial, 12pt), gtk fonts.

No matter what I do, the fonts stay small. Only turning the
mouse-whell (strg + wheel) makes them bigger

Do I have the wrong KDE-settings or is it in iceweasel, but
where?

Seems to be iceweasel, because konqueror is okay.

Thanks for helping
Max

12pt is small. I think the Firefox "Iceweasel"
default is 16.

That site like many others styles text using px. Your only
defenses against
that belligerence are turning off pages styles for that site
in the browser,
or setting an adequate minimum font size in the browser.
When you find sites
that do that you should complain by pointing their
webmasters to good
practices web sites, such as:

Thank you.
Yes, but then the vertical spacing is lousy. The text then
is too long for the
frames or better the blank vertikal space above is too big
(f. i.
www.t-online.de)

Thank you.
Actually this site also tells me that my browser is not
supported.

In Firefox , goto Edit>Preferences>Content>(Font
& Colors)Advanced.
Set 'Minimum font size' same as 'Size'
Uncheck 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts ....above'
option.
Restart Firefox.

Thank you for showing me the settings. The www.t-online.de
does not bother my
settings. The fontsize is okay now, but the frames in the
middle-part do not
correspond to the text. Further more it reports unknown
browser.

Felix Miata wrote interesting comments - see thread.

I followed his advice and sent a mail!

Greetings

Max

They specify all their dimensions in pixels. This is very
rigid - when
the font size increases, their containers and stay the same
size.

To make it even worse, it fails W3C validation with 206
errors - its a
mess of HTML 4.01 Transitional with XHTML tag closings and
[[CDATA
sections. Their CSS is similarly a sea of errors.

No browser can overcome bad design.
