Under the Settings menu, Save View Changes per Folder. (KDE
3.5.2)

Hmm - interesting.   Perhaps the reason I've never seen
that is because it is 
greyed out.  But then I'm running 3.5.1-0.3fc4.  All the
same, my Konqueror 
display is always as I left it last.
