| Glad you got it working. We have 10 workstations
running KDE successfully, much better than CDE!
However, we still get this problem when another user
logs in on a workstation, and while a reboot usually fixes it by clearing /tmp,
there must be a more professional solution! Any ideas
anyone?

Thanks a lot, I took the clue from this and removed all the
<username> directories from the /tmp folder. I then was able to view the
startkde file when I logged in next. On going through the log file I noticed
that the errors were to do with the KDEqt, I think I forgot to install this
package :( I though I had installed it.
I have now installed it and I
could log on to the KDE desktop . It looks awesome!
I'm yet to see
if I can log in as another user. I'll try that out in a bit.
Thanks a
lot everybody for helping me out on this,
Regards, Nilesh

We have
this issue as well. You need to delete a few *-<username> directories
in /tmp, which I think were installed with the installation and permissions
are stopping you overwrite.
Should
get you running, but the problem may re-occur if you log in as another user,
and I don't know a permanent fix. Maybe someone else knows the
answer?

Hello Everybody, I tried to install
KDE on my Solaris 10 Ultra Sparc box. I followed all the instructions that
were described on http://solaris.kde.org/instructions.php page. I
installed all the binary packages and patches as described here. I also
managed to get "KDE 3.4.3 32-bit [en_US.UTF-8]" display in the Sessions
menu.
However, after I select this, I am unable to get
to the KDE desktop. I get a blue screen (as described in the installation
instructions) but after a few seconds I am taken back the login
screen. I do not get the Konfigurator as described in the
instructions. I however am able to log on to CDE and JDS (which were
preinstalled). I do not get any error messages. Everything else seems
to work on Solaris except the KDE desktop.
I'm not sure what is
going wrong. Is there any way to troubleshoot this problem ? Any log files
that can help me ? I'm not a Solaris expert, but I can just work my way
through. It would be great if anyone can help me troubleshoot
this.
Thanks, Nilesh
