KDevelop 3.4 beta 3 release date?

Hi,

Does anybody have an idea of when beta 3 should be released?
As we get more
into the KDE 4 development cycle, I don't really like the
idea of spending
anymore time on KDev 3.4. However, I'm not sure that
KDevelop 3.4 is ready
for general public consumption now, since I've run into a
few crashes, an
infinite loop of some sort in the new c++ stuff that chomped
all my memory,
crashed my box and killed all my kittens, and a few other
bugs and
regressions.

So, it really boils down to three questions.

1. Do we want to continue on the path towards releasing
KDevelop 3.4?

2. Should we just start backporting things from the 3.4
branch during the
feature unfreeze cycles in the KDE 3.5 branch instead?

3. When would be a good date to release KDevelop 3.4 beta 3
(assuming we
actually want to release 3.4)?

Thanks for any input

Some showstoppers from my POV:
- debugger issues I posted (I will create bugreports for
them soon),
mainly moving breakpoints and not showing QString for parent
classes
- autocompletion was very slow a week ago, I have to retest
it. Manual
completion is OK

There are some other small problems, but the above ones are
regressions
and this is why I consider showstoppers.

There was quite some work done here and I think it's better
to use this
one instead of backporting. Sure, bugfixes can be backported
if anyone
cares about finding them...

For the rest, I don't have an answer.

beta 2 was only released yesterday (ftp mirror issues)

KDevelop 3.4 was branched in October last year, it has 11
months of work.
So yes, I think we should release it.

yes, IMHO.

I think there are too many differences, not a good idea.

Like Andras said, I also think that we should concentrate on
regressions, and
once that it done, release it.

I am just a user, and I am looking forward to the new
release which
has a working C++ code completion. I am using the beta right
now (just
downloaded the new beta2).

The current stable releasehas a lot of bugs in code
completion,
which are fixed, the beta versions have much more better
completion, and
I would like to use this kind of completion in a kdevelop
stable
release. I just wanted to say I guess there are a lot of
people looking
forward to a stable kdevelop release with C++ code
completion. I am not
satisfied with kdevelop's current stability (did not try
beta2 yet, and
the stable versions code completion is not satisfying), so I
was trying
eclipse, netbeans and sun studio other than kdevelop. I am
not used to
those programs yet. I would be happier with kdevelop without
problems.

I just wanted to say these words, because it may effect
your
decesion about making the release.

Thanks for kdevelop
Can Erogul.

If it's a crash in the code-completion stuff, send me a
backtrace and I'll fix
it.

I think what needs most work before release is the debugger,
a lot of bugs
need to be fixed until that's really usable(for example the
speed-problem
with more complex programs).

Then a few general crashes fixed, and 3.4 would be in an
acceptable state IMO.

greetings, David

I think it would be really bad to abandon kdev3.4, as
there's been so
much work done for it.

As for the bugs/crashes.. I'm still planning on getting a
few more into
kdev3.4 with my qmake-parser-rework. I already said on irc
yesterday
that I can now more or less handle the
scopes/subprojects/includes in
the overview. I'm planning on "opening" the
branch for the public
sometime next week. And if it's been through a couple of
weeks of
testing I'd like to merge it back into kdev3.4.
