Thanks. That seems to have helped, but now I am running into
a different 
error trying to build the subversion part... it looks like
configure is 
missing a check for apr (which IIRC I have in a non-standard
location, 
or rather the default location which I used when I built apr
is 
different from where everything expects to find it). I just
did a 
distclean to see if configure would look for it, but it
didn't complain. 
I'm strongly suspecting that this is not going to "just
work" but I 
might be wrong. Anyway it will be a while before the build
gets back to 
that point.

configure does have a check for apr, but you need to re-run
make -f
Makefile.cvs manually maybe. And it looks for apr-config
binary in PATH
and /usr/local/apr/bin/. Also you can provide a custom path
via
--with-apr-config configure option. Same thing with apu.
