Hi,
as the first weekend of the kdevelop hackathon is basically
open for
everybody I'm wondering wether we should start thinking
about stuff like
tutorials, presentations and such things?
Or are we just going to do that "live", as its too
few visitors (afaik
so far only two or three non-devs) and just show them stuff
they're
interested in directly with the code?

Hi, If you want to, I can do the same talk (translated) I did in zaragoza (http://dot.kde.org/1195751102/) about kdevelop+cmake there.
But oh well, if there is only 3 non-developers, maybe it would be a bit... worthless :P
Bye!

Just in case I wasn't clear: I meant non-kdevelop-devs, but
probably
also developers So its not
like you're talking to a stewardess or
truck driver

May I suggest an idea? We have pretty cool stuff in duchain
and c++ support
right now but so far only Hamish and David have the thorough
knowledge about
it. It would be cool if they could give a short overview of
that stuff live.
I know, there's a design doc and so on, but nothing could
replace the live
talk directly from experts

sublime stuff (if you think
you want to hear it;))

Oh, sorry, seems I forgot the [rfc] tag Of course
you may!

Yeah and that would probably also mean a lot less mails from
me on the
list (I'm planning to start QMake/duchain soon, so I can
finish it off
during april).

And btw, I can offer an overview over project support,
plugin loading
mechanisms (and interface usages) as well as some insight
into the VCS
infrastructure. Though I have to admit that I don't
necessarily want to
do all three.

regrouped and
are making another attack.

I'd say we definitely need to have some structured
discussion before
actually getting into coding. I'm not sure if that
discussion will
be of interest to non-developers. As for the structure, I'm
not 100%
sure. Perhaps, everybody interested can prepare brief
presentations
about what they like KDevelop to be, and then we should
allocate
some time for brainstorming/prioritization?

For those of us out there for whom flying to Germany just
isn't feasible, but who'd still like to see/hear any
presentations that go on, I hope we can find a way to record
them. Whether someone actually has a digital video camera,
or whether we just get some sort of screen/audio capture.
We could then post them on kdevelop.org for the general
public.

I think the event won't be big enough to actually get such
kind of "talks"
that are worth recording.

Due to my exam I won't be able to preper some kind of talk,
but if there is
interest I can of course give some spontaneous introduction
to anyone
interested.
Greetings, David

Actually that's exactly what I had in my mind. There's no
need for formal
talks IMHO.
