Just wanted to ask some questions about your experience with KiCad.

- Did you use the "archive" button to create archives of the project
as you progressed? I'm wondering because I see that as a possible way
to overcome the lack of an undo feature in PCBNEW.

- Did you autoroute traces? I find that autoroute gives up frequently,
and that I even have trouble rounting nets sometimes. Are there any
tips to can share for hand-routing nets?

- Did you create your own libraries and footprints, or use the built-
in parts? It seems as if I'm always hunting for a partnumber in the
libraries converted from Eagle CAD. (Maybe I should give up and learn
to make my own...)

Thanks.

Hi

I've just 2 PCB's, one very simple. But here's what I've found so far.
..I did use Archive, but mainly for back-ups. I really did miss undo,
but found deleting and re-wiring wasn't too bad.

..I try autorouting at the start to check how my placement of
components looks, then route the whole thing by hand. I've found with
PCB layouts that you're better off spending more time with careful
component placement.

..I created my own components, it's really not that hard. I haven't
had a go at creating a 3d shape for them yet through.

..The board I did is a CPU board to control a 7 segment display. My
sons class is studying clocks for school, so he's going help me make a
digital clock, I'm more than happy to share it with you guys. It's
based on a ATmega8.

Cheers Darryl
