Many thanks another time Vincent,

I've tried db_recover with the parameters you say, just after stopping all services:

/kolab/bin/openpkg rc all stop
/kolab/bin/db_recover -v -h /kolab/var/openldap/openldap-data
db_recover: Program version 4.3 doesn't match environment version
Finding last valid log LSN: file: 1 offset 326817
Recovery starting from [1][325708]
Recovery complete at Mon Jul 10 13:08:42 2006
Maximum transaction ID 80000026 Recovery checkpoint [1][326817]

And then trying to start services again, but same error appears:

/kolab/bin/openpkg rc all start
OpenPKG: start: openpkg, openldap, sasl, spamassassin, amavisd, apache, clamav
OpenPKG: start: imapd, postfix, proftpd:FAILED
openpkg:rc:WARNING: /kolab:proftpd:%start: failed with return code 1
openpkg:rc:NOTICE: output from stdout/stderr is following:
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
|  - Fatal: unknown configuration directive 'LDAPHomedirOnDemand' on line 30 of '/kolab/etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf'
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
OpenPKG: start: kolabd.

I also tryed kolab_conf:

/kolab/sbin/kolabconf
kolabconf - Kolab Configuration Generator

May be the best thing will be reinstalling kolab, and make a cyrreconstruct.

I you or another people has any other idea, it will be very appreciate...

See you...

Sorry - that's all - but are you specifying the path to the LDAP db?

here's my shell log

Shell log:

vmptarmigan:/ # /kolab/bin/openpkg rc all stop

OpenPKG: stop: spamassassin, amavisd, apache, clamav, imapd, postfix,

proftpd

OpenPKG: stop: kolabd, sasl, openldap, fetchmail.

vmptarmigan:/ # /kolab/bin/db_recover -v /kolab/var/openldap/openldap-data

usage: db_recover [-ceVv] [-h home] [-P password] [-t [[CC]YY]MMDDhhmm[.SS]]

vmptarmigan:/ # /kolab/bin/db_recover -v -h

/kolab/var/openldap/openldap-data

db_recover: Program version 4.3 doesn't match environment version

Finding last valid log LSN: file: 1 offset 448072

Recovery starting from [1][447454]

Recovery complete at Thu Jun 8 16:49:36 2006

Maximum transaction ID 80000009 Recovery checkpoint [1][448594]

My symptoms were slightly different to you -

After a hard crash I could not log in as manager on the web interface, and when I ran kolabconf I got

'Error loading configuration.  Maybe the LDAP server is not running.  Please check the system log for errors.'

From memory, I have had the same problem as you in the past ( before I was told abpout bdb recover, and I had to do a reinstall as well.

Good luck!

Vincent

Many thanks Vincent,

I've tryed as a root:
/kolab/bin/db_recover
and
/kolab/bin/db_recover -c
but without luck.

If I only run proftp server:
/kolab/bin/openpkg rc proftpd start
I get the same message:
OpenPKG: start: proftpd:FAILED
openpkg:rc:WARNING: /kolab:proftpd:%start: failed with return code 1
openpkg:rc:NOTICE: output from stdout/stderr is following:
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
|  - Fatal: unknown configuration directive 'LDAPHomedirOnDemand' on line 30 of '/kolab/etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf'
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any more idea? I've revied in the google search, but without luck.

Many thanks again. Sincerelly...

You could try

- it might be a db corruption issue.

Dear Kolab users,

we've instaled a kolab server development 2.1 in a ubuntu linux.
Unfortunatelly sometimes the power suply fails, and when rebooting our system kolab ;can't iniciate correctly.

This is the term messages:

# /kolab/bin/openpkg rc all start
OpenPKG: start: openpkg, openldap, sasl, spamassassin, amavisd, apache, clamav
OpenPKG: start: imapd, postfix, proftpd:FAILED
openpkg:rc:WARNING: /kolab:proftpd:%start: failed with return code 1
openpkg:rc:NOTICE: output from stdout/stderr is following:
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
|  - Fatal: unknown configuration directive 'LDAPHomedirOnDemand' on line 30 of '/kolab/etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf'
+----------------------------------------------------------------------
OpenPKG: start: kolabd.

The only solution until now is reinstaling kolab and recovering email structure by cyrreconstruct instruction.

Any help to avoid all this anoying reinstallation will be very apreciate.

Many thanks... Sincerelly...
