You need at least one dot in your domain name, so if your
internal
domain would be "autocity.local" or something like
that, it would
work.

There are no reminders of calendar events sent via email,
what you
see is an email used to store the event data. Just don't
look at the
email, but look at your calendar. You can configure Kontact
to hide
such folders, too.
