Time delayed appearance in shared contact folder

Hello,

I made a puzzling observation with a shared imap folder
(contacts): I access
this folder with the same client (kontact) from two
different locations,
but when making entries to it, they are only visible from
the other site
after a day or so. Excuse my newbieishness, but what might
this be and how
to remedy it?
