what did you do after sa-learn?
Do you delete the folder with rm * and use cyrreconstruct to

reinitialize the imap database?
Whitch ist the best way?

You could use fetchmail to get and delete the emails via
IMAP or
POP3 and then feed them to sa-learn.

This way no email gets deleted before it has been passed to
sa-learn.
