Hello
The Kolab wiki suggest to use nullmailer to provide basic
sendmail
functionalities.

I used to make a link between the kolab sendmail and the
"OS" sendmail, this way
# ln -sf /kolab/sbin/sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
This is quick, simple (no configuration required) and get
the same function.

Any comments ?

Regards

I never required this so far so I was not aware that the
default
/kolab/sbin/sendmail provided by postfix cannot always be
used. What
are the problems when using it? Probably that it tries to
check for an
existing user account, right? Or are there other problems?
Maybe it
would be easier to define the necessary accounts as an alias
for
postfix.

Cheers,

Gunnar

I thing you miss understood my question.
I said /kolab/sbin/sendmail is the good one to use.

The problem is that some native OS services and commands
will try to
send email using /usr/sbin/sendmail, this command will
inject the mail in the
disabled native MTA queue and not the Kolab one. These
emails will never reach
their destination!

The wiki suggest to install nullmailer that provide a
/usr/sbin/sendmail command
that will try to use local port 25 to send email.
And I suggest to directly use the kolab sendmail command
/kolab/sbin/sendmail instead of nullmailer.

This doesn't work with Kolab server 2.0.x, because
postfix/main.cf
wasn't readable with this version due to passwords being
stored in
the file.

With server 2.1 this should be no longer a problem, so feel
free to
adjust the wiki page for this detail.

Thanks,
Thomas

Oh, of course you can only use the symlink on the Kolab
server
itself, while nullmailer and friends can be used on other
machines
in the LAN.
