egroupware is incapable to work with the Kolab server.
egroupware is
fully databased driven and the code don't abstract the DB
level at
all. So I doubt the developers of egroupware will ever
consider making
their software Kolab compatible.

Cheers,

Gunnar

I disagree. It is possible to have LDAP stored user
information within
egroupware. Furthermore its Felamimail is imap-based. I'm
not sure about the
calendar though.
The problem with launching kolab with egroupware or gosa is
that it seems to
me kolab uses non standard LDAP tree organisation
Why there's cn=internal,dc=domain,dc=com instead of
something like
ou=internal,ou=people,dc=domain,dc=com in kolab?

Is there any strong reason to keep those things
incompatible?

Okay, of course. I was too focused on the groupware stuff.
It is no
problem to get the IMAP based mail stuff and the LDAP based
address
book. You just won't be able to use the groupware data
stored in the
Kolab IMAP store. So you'll have to decide if you want to
use clients
like Outlook or Kontact (does it support egroupware? --
don't know)
with the Kolab way of storing groupware information or if
you use the
egroupware approach of storing stuff in a MySQL db.

Well the main user data is on the first hierarchy level.
"internal"
contains some hidden data relevant for groups and so on. I
guess this
could also use different structures but I'm no LDAP expert.
