Thread: Setting the Debug level in Kolab2.1

Setting the Debug level in Kolab2.1

Hallo,

I am using the binary packages of kolab2.1. I want to reduce
the logging
for the imap service. I added to /kolab/etc/kolab/kolab.conf
the lines
like discribes in the operation manual:

log_level : 2
debug : 0

and restarted the kolabd. Even after that I get lots of
"debug" messages
in /kolab/var/imapd/log/imapd.log / master.log. Is this the
right way to
control the loglevel?

You want to edit the files
/kolab/etc/kolab/templates/imapd.conf.template
and/or cyrus.conf.template
Then run kolabconf, it will generate
/kolab/etc/imapd/imapd.conf and
cyrus.conf which is what cyrus uses.
Then restart cyrus /kolab/bin/openpkg rc cyrus restart

This is for something else, probably of all the kolab
specific
components like kolabd, kolabpolicy, kolabfilter ....

This is not in imapd.conf either

this is
/kolab/bin/openpkg rc imapd restart
instead

To answere the Volker question ... This is in
/kolab/etc/fsl/fsl.imapd,
replace the "debug:" into "info:", and
restart imapd (as above)
OR because you said you are using the "binaries"
(but witch binaries ?)
in /etc/syslog.conf replace something like
mail.*
-/var/log/maillog
into
mail.info
-/var/log/maillog

I edited the fsl.imapd but nothing changed debug: to info:,
even ran
kolabconf and restarted the deamon, but nothing changed.

Did you already tried Alain suggestion:

in /etc/syslog.conf replace something like
mail.*
-/var/log/maillog
into
mail.info
-/var/log/maillog

and restart your syslog?

Did you run ?
# /kolab/bin/openpkg rc imapd restart

If so why did you keep a copy of your original fsl.imapd in
the
/etc/fsl directory ? Remove it

Yes I did. I have sysklogd installed. Though I don´t think
that it will
change something. All my kolab-logging goes to:
/kolab/var/<servicename>/log/<logfile>.log

Excerpt from my syslog.conf:

auth,authpriv.*                 /var/log/auth.log
*.*;auth,authpriv.none          -/var/log/syslog
#cron.*                         /var/log/cron.log
daemon.*                        -/var/log/daemon.log

lpr.*                           -/var/log/lpr.log

user.*                          -/var/log/user.log

Ok, I somekind "removed" it

mail:/kolab/etc/fsl# ls -l fsl.imapd*
-rw-r--r-- 1 kolab kolab 2431 2007-02-05 22:01 fsl.imapd.alt

------------------------------------------------------------
---

I also experimented with the rc.fsl I did
openpkg rc fsl config .... and
openpkg rc fsl daily

and restarted all the daemons. Is it correct that rc.fsl
doesn´t offer
start/restart/stop commands?

mail:/kolab/etc/rc.d# cat rc.fsl
#!/kolab/bin/openpkg rc
##
##  rc.fsl -- Run-Commands
##

%config
     fsl_enable="$openpkg_rc_def"
     fsl_log_prolog="true"
     fsl_log_epilog="true"
     fsl_log_numfiles="10"
     fsl_log_minsize="1M"
     fsl_log_complevel="9"

%daily -u root
     rcService fsl enable yes || exit 0
     shtool rotate -f
         -n $ -s $ -d
         -z $ -o kolab-r -g kolab-r -m
644
         -P "$"
         -E "$"
         /kolab/var/fsl/fsl.log

------------------------------------------------------------
-

Besides an excerpt of my fsl.imapd, which didn´t bring a
solution. :-(

mail:/kolab/etc/fsl# cat fsl.imapd.alt | grep -A 1 info:
