Thread: General problem with connectors

General problem with connectors

Hallo together!

I´ve been -very- busy on testing different connectors the
last days and
they seem to have the same problem. Syncing contacts seems
fine but when I
sync calenders the new entries often don´t get synced. This
happend with
Thunderbird+Lightning+SynKolab and Toltec Connector with
Outlook 2007
(wasn´t my decision to use it). Konsec Konnektor is
mentioned to be
Outlook 2007 ready in the change log, but someone form
Konsec wrote me
that the connector isn´t realy tested with Outlook 2007.
The Dialog for
Konsec Konnektor for sharing Outlook folders didn´t even
appear.

Could there be general reason for these missing syncs?

Now when I am writing this mail I think I come more closer
to the problem.
A typical situation is: User-B adds an appointment in the
Calender of
User-A and syncs. Both users have full access to each others
calenders.
The imapd.log looks like this, when User-B clicks on
Calender in Outlook.
How important is the message "SQUAT failed to open
index file"? It seems
that the appointment isn´t written in the Calender of
User-A

I want to prensnet our it-chef a practical solution as an
MS-Exchange
replacement with Kolab. But with this quality I can´t
present him anything
convincing.

Any Ideas?

Concerning Thunderbird I'd really still expect a few
problems here and
there. The code is still rather new and while it progresses
fast I
wouldn't expect a very high stability. Concerning the Toltec
connecter
I'm surprised though. I never had troubles like the ones you
describe
when I tested it against the Horde web client. I also used
Outlook
2007. In general I'd say it's quite stable.

The SQUAT message isn't relevant. Check the first entries on
google
for that.

Your problem description is still a little bit too vague and
it would
be good to have a reliable failure scenario. On the other
hand this
may be a little bit too much as you are just in a testing
phase. So
all I can say is that the Toltec connector has proven rather
reliable
in my hands.

Cheers,

Gunnar

Thanks for the help Gunnar! My problem was a
misunderstanding in the
concept ouf Outlook folders. Now its clear to me that the
folders are not
the list below the folders. I am not very familiar with
Outlook. For me
its a very goog groupware but crappy mail-client. Toltec
works quite
stable at the moment! Now i will test out some other
features.
