| Install on Ubuntu Gutsy fails (perl) |
  France |
2008-03-20 05:54:07 |
Hello,
I'm trying to install with openpkg but the install fails at
the perl
package.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/kolab/RPM/TMP/perl-5.8.7'
./makedepend: 1: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string
make: *** [depend] Error 2
If you compile perl on a different machine or from a
different object
directory, copy the Policy.sh file from this object
directory to the
new one before you run Configure -- this will help you with
most of
the policy defaults.
I've seen the person on the wiki have the same problem.
Anybody have an idea ?
Thanks
David

I had a problem with perl at install time when SELINUX was
enabled.
I switched to permissive or disabled and the problem
disappeared.
I made some post about this long time ago, it was on a
Fedora 7 or 8
or on a Centos 5.
Check the archive for more, maybe they are something in the
wiki too.

Thank you Alain, but it's a fresh install of Ubuntu, I think
there is no
SElinux.
I'm trying 2.2 RC2 i don't know if it's a good idea.
If not i'd like to try an other distrib. What is the
better's supported
distribution for Kolab? Debian ?

The better is the one you have the use
The better is to use the openpkg distribution of kolab (not
the SUSE
or DEBIAN pakaging,
even on SUSE or DEBIAN diustribution) on any recent
distribution.
Centos 5, and fedora 8 are working fine, but are surely not
the only one.

Yes i think, because there is no Selinux in ubuntu but
apparmor that is
an alternative, but from some reads i understood that
apparmor have no
profile by default.
I'd like to use Ubuntu, and i have one kolab in production
with Ubuntu,
but it's old version.
I use openpkg, and i better know debian distributions type
and Freebsd,
that's why i asked if somebody have installed that version
on any
distrib with no problem.
But i'd prefere to resolve this issue with gutsy.
