Hello !
I wanted to update my old 2.2.x versions, so i downloaded
the
Bering-uClibc_2.4.2_iso_bering-uclibc.iso.bin renamed it to
.iso and
burned that image as usual with nero 6.
An attempt to boot the cd results into a "Boot
error" message. After
that i tried to boot directly of the file with vmware. Same
result.
So i tried that with
Bering-uClibc_2.4.1_iso_bering-uclibc.iso.bin AND
Bering-uClibc_2.4._iso_bering-uclibc.iso.bin.
Only Bering-uClibc_2.4._iso_bering-uclibc.iso.bin is
bootable as
downloaded from sourceforge.net.

The changelog lists an update of syslinux vom ver. 2.4.0 to
2.4.1. is
that perhaps the reason for the "Boot error" ?

After that i build the new bootdisk.ima wich is bootable
from floppy.
But once copied to the cd-content-folder and "
mkisofs -v -b bootdisk.ima -c boot.catalog -r -J -f -o
Bering242-v1.iso
-l cd-content" i got the same error.

I checked nearly every config-file that is important for the
boot-process but can not figure what went wrong.

thanx for tips and hints.

I've downloaded the 2.4.2 iso image and without renaming I
booted the image
successfully with qemu:
(qemu -cdrom Bering...iso.bin).

I burned with the same image a CD-RW with k3b and booted it
successfully on an
IBM 330 75Mhz (with an eleven year old BIOS).

This makes me believe the images are ok.

sorry

Hello,

I've tried 2.4.2 iso (as virtual cdrom) in vmware, it
didn't boot.
Putting bootdisk.ima (from same iso) as virtual floppy + iso
as virtual
cdrom did boot.
It seems there is a problem with the iso bootloader (at
least with some
"bioses")
