Needed to take the top off of my unit and found nothing on line....the
once all the screws are removed the keyboard has to come off and that
was a pain to find out how..but..here it is.
If you are expecting to go deeper than just the keyboard and speaker
panel you need to remove all the little screws on the back of the
unit, open the little access panels and remove the little screws there
too. once that is complete flip it over and get busy.
How to remove keyboard from PCG-FR130, figured it out myself after not
finding the information anywhere at all on the web.
if you open the cover and have it face you, press down on the Delete
key and you'll see this little silver 'tab', press it with a small
screw driver and it clicks in and it releases that section of the
speaker section right above the keyboard. once that is done move down
the keys and you'll find there are a total of 4 of those little clips
behind keys, F5 has one and Escape maybe..but they are there. once you
find one you'll know what to look for. get them all pressed in and the
speaker panel will pop up and you can remove it, gently of course.
once that is up remove the little screw up at the top of the keyboard
and it lifts right out. to remove the palm rest itself, you'll need to
remove the screws holding that down too, they're all over the place,
you'll see them. you should also loosen up the screws on brackets
holding on the crt screen, 2 on each side, once done you can lift up
the screen a bit and remove the entire palm rest. now you have the
guts of the unit exposed. do what you have to do.
