I have just started to cut the cable that connects the little eraser mouse to the motherboard in these units.  Lift the keyboard up, and you will see it running from the eraser mouse to the main connector.  Just cut it near the mouse, and again near the main connector.  Unless you want to use that instead of the touch-pad, of course.  If that is your prefrence for mouse control, you will have to replace the whole keyboard.

Hello Iam looking every where for a solution. I work offshore and
can't just get to a shop so I am tryin to troubleshoot this here.
I have a Dell inspiron 8600 about three years old. For no obvious
reason the keyboard seems to have lost its mind. When you begin typing
the cursor will move erraticly all over the screen. I have opened the
case and cleaned as best as possible. I have attatched a ps2 keyboard
but when using it the keys will stick( the letter will repeat at times
like you have sticky keys) how ever it id temporarily stop the issue
with the cursor. Is this some thing some one has come across ? Can
anyone give me any advice as to what to look for or do ? Or give me
idea what a repair shop might charge to fix this ?

On some makes of the keyboard you can simply unstick the lead for the eraser-mouse from the connection that goes to the system board but as  you noted no mouse that way but it's a good troubleshooting step.
