Not 
all are that way. some use Dallas RTC style with soldered on battery. Passwords 
are usually in NVram anyway, don't get lost with battery

If you do not remember the password for the CMOS 
  then unplug the CMOS battery ( it may be 3 0r 4 batteries together sealed, but 
  pluged into the motherboard. This is not always easy to do without taking it

    good condition but my only problem is the password... i forgot the cmos
