Hey everyone, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS640/W with a fried processor,
a Intel P M 1.6 and I was just thinking is this something I could
myself.. I'm not a laptop tech. but I've taken laptops apart & put back
together again no problem, but I never mess with the Motherboard before
so my question is, is it real hard to do replace a Processor???
please any help would be great Help or Advice

Depends on how the heatsink is setup - some are quick and easy and some have a dozen screws and some clips. Pentium M is removable AFAIK but each machine holds the CPU differently. Either wing it since you've done some or search for a manual or at least that section.

The CPU is facing the bottom of the laptop. You need to remove all
the bottom screws, then remove the keyboard, then remove a few
screws under the keyboard. Then flip the laptop upside down and
remove the base, then will expose the CPU cooling system and the
CPU.
