Hello
I am having a problem re-connecting my keyboard cable to laptop, I followed these instructions for removal:
5. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector to which the
keyboard cable is connected 1 and disconnect the keyboard
cable from the system board 2 (Figure 5-5) which you can view here:
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01130940/c01130940.pdf
BUT cannot find the ZIF to reconnect it
Other than this the laptop works fine.
Any sugestions please?
Thank you.

What do you mean, you cannot find the zif connector. It is part of the
receptical that is part of the motherboard, and should still be there.
Just lift it back up, insert the cable properly, then press the zif down
to lock the ribbon cable into position. It will have 2 little hooks,
one on each end, that keep it in place and allow you to reuse it as many
times as needed.

If you inspect it carefully, you will see that the ribbon cable fits
inside a square edge of the wedge which you inadvertently removed. The
ribbon cable will have one side with the bare conductors on it. The
"wedge" goes on the opposite side to press the bare conductors against
the pins in the connector. Insert the ribbon cable first, then slide
the wedge in behind it. It is OK to break off the little legs at this
point, since all they are there for in the first place was to prevent
you from accidently removing it from the connector. Once it is back in
place behind the ribbon cable, the tension will hold it there.
I have also found that if I cut a piece of thick plastic like from a
plastic display pack eveything seems to come in, and make it just about
as wide as the ribbon cable is, I can use that instead if the wedge gets
lost or broken up too badly/
