Hi Guys-help with a power cord/battery? issue... please help HP Pav Laptop

HiGuys-I have a second-hand HP Pvilion laptop by Altec Lansing- and
recently it has a weird little issue, only when it is plugged into the
ac power cord charging, the screen goes quite dim... until I unplug it
from it;s socket, then it gets alll bright again when I am on the
battery, it's fine. But when I have to leave it plugged in to charge
it's very, very dim. Any help/suggestions-? Thanks Fred Kohlmetz

Try turning the Brightness Down bit. I have seen inverters that will
shut down when forced to put out their maximum brightness, whcih is
generally the case when you plug a unit in. When they switch over to
battery, the brightness dims down some to conserve battery life.

Sounds like the power adaptor may be faulty. First
thing I would do is to try a known good one and see if
this solves the problem. You could also try removing
the battery and using the AC power cord only to see
if the lcd still dims. If it does then this points to
a faulty power adaptor. Dave
