   These two computers were working fine one day and the next they were 

unbable to find all of their peripherals.  



The IBM did not recognize its Com port and the Dell did not 

recognize its CD drive.  These failures did not occur on the same day.



Is this a failure of the BIOS and if so, how can I correct them.  

I'd like to have these laptops whole again.
