Rob,
You would be better off lubricating the transport screws. I have the instructions linked in the manuals section of my website www.leafstuff.com. Just running the motors will burn them out. Sluggishness also is caused by a bad bulb. ; Check the exposure numbers in the more info, scanner info windows. Numbers in the 60's or higher indicate a bad bulb.
