connected to it. You also have to use the ratoc utility to initialize
the converter, after you have connected it with the ac adapter.
I ended up getting an ACard 6712 scsi card for about $20. The
Leafscan works great with it, and you do not have to use a utility to
get it to work.
I have a MAC G4 running OS 10.3.9, and Photoshop CS.

This sounds strange to me, as i used the Ratoc with various scanners until
now ( without using the ratoc software, just the adapter out of the box ).

The Question is: why does it work for me ( and others ) where it doesn't
work for you ?!

I guess there can be several reasons:

-1- I do not know if there are different Hardware or Firmware Revisions,
maybe i got a "good" one ?!?!

-2- Power is crucial, the adapter can get ist power from 3 sources:
  ;    -SCSI Termpower
      -Firewire Bus
 ;     -AC Adapter

maybe some scanner ( versions ?!? ) don't supply (enough) power via
SCSI Term, and also maybe some Firewire Interfaces do not
;     provide (enough) power , so thats why you need the AC Adapter.

I have to confess that i even prefer the Belkin ( or 2ndwave, identical )
FW2SCSI Adapter, but not because it is more stable ( it acts identical to
the Ratoc in my cases ), but because of the more convenient SCSI Adapter (
Sub D 25 ) for my uses.

Those are my 2 Eurocents
