Web server log file analysis

Dear Web4libbers,
being in the process of web site redesign, I would like to
know if there 
are possible uses of log file analysis, in order to have
information on 
users navigation behaviour or information needs.
Actually our ISP provides us web server log analysis with
AWStat. At the 
moment I am not interested in information like browser used
for 
navigating the site, as they regard the
"technical" side of the redesign.

about.
