printer pool and public access management software

Is there is anyone out there who is currently running a
printer pool for 
public use in combination with using public access
management software 
(we are using the SAM system for pc signup and print
management)? We are 
thinking of setting up a printer pool and would welcome any
information 
from libraries with experience in this area. We are a
Win2003 server,
