Thread: Google Allows Downloads of out-of-copyright Books

Google Allows Downloads of out-of-copyright Books

We were wondering the same thing here. I assumed Google had
done it
because the first page of the PDF includes the language that
it was
scanned by Google. It could be boilerplate and this work
may not
have been scanned by Google, but by Michigan -- was it then
given to
Google for hosting?

I couldn't readily find a company called Imagenes Digitales
in
Nogales when I googled it.

Hello,

I'm interested in learning about other libraries
experiences introducing
redesigned academic library websites. Did you wait until a
break
between semesters? Did you release the new site in the
middle of a
semester? Over a fall break or spring break? Did you
provide a link to
the new site on the old site before releasing to get user
feedback,
introduce users to the new look, and troubleshoot?
Any insight into this process would be appreciated. Feel
free to
respond off-list if you prefer.

Thanks!

Near the end of the summer seems to be the best time to
launch a new
site. That way traffic will be low and you can work out any
kinks that
slipped through QA before the onslaught of students in the
Fall.
That's what we're doing. T-minus 8 days until launch! (Oh
god!)

Kristen -

When we rolled out what we call the "new"
website (three years ago, so
not new anymore!), we put a "take a look at our new
site and tell us
what you think" link on the major pages of our current
site. We put
that up in early April (if I remember correctly) and we did
the physical
switch over between finals and the first intersession course
(mid-May).

The whole process took us very close to a year, and we're
coming up on
that time again. If you'd like to talk off-list, please
let me know!
