Digital Projects Web Services Specialist
Function of Job
A time-limited, non-tenure track professional position
providing innovative, dynamic, team-oriented
responsibilities as Digital Projects Web Services
Specialist. Mississippi State University Libraries has a

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following examples are intended as illustrations only of
the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated
to this classification. The absence of specific statements
of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if
the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the
position.
Design with input from the Library Webmaster and others, the
Digital Library portal as well as interfaces to the
Congressional and Political Research Center’s Digital
Library Project, the CHARM Digital Library Project and the
Templeton Sheet Music Collection
Recommend new approaches, applications and services.
Compile reports as needed for the grant
Provide training to small groups of students, faculty and
staff.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Received: Receives general supervision from a designated
supervisor
Given: Provides supervision to subordinate personnel
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in related field
One year of experience in maintaining and developing
web-related applications
Strong interpersonal communication, organizational and
problem-solving skills
Strong computer experience including the use of scanners

Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or
education training approved by the Human Resources
Department.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using recent versions of Photoshop.
Experience working in an academic library environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must possess significant experience in the following:
computer applications especially Photoshop, scanners and
understanding of web-based technologies:
Must be a self-directed individual who can determine work
assignments based on a set of established practices;
Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues as well as with
faculty, staff and students in a busy, changing environment;
Ability to analyze information and communicate that
information orally and in writing.
