Hello -

x-posted. I'm wondering what systems are in use for booking
or reserving
study rooms via the web. This would be for a small academic
US library.

I rounded up these systems, so far:
-paper and pen signup
-in-house programming
-III Millennium module http://www.iii.com
/mill/circ.shtml
-ExLibris Voyager Media booking module
http://
www.exlibrisgroup.com/category/Voyager
-E-vanced solutions http://www.e-vanced
solutions.com/
-EventKeeper http://www.eventkeeper.co
m/

I also know these exist, but I don't know if libraries use
them:
-Meeting Room booking system http://sourcefo
rge.net/projects/mrbs/
-Netsimplicity Meeting Room Manager
http://www.netsimplicity.com/products/mrm/webscheduli
ng.asp

Any other recommendations? I'm most interested in systems
where patrons
can put in a reservation via the web without staff mediation
and can see
what time slots are already booked before they attempt to
reserve a
room. We would not need the ability to set recurring
bookings, the
bookings would be for two hours max at a time, and we'd need
some system
of authentication - ideally a system that is capable of
authenticating
against an external source.

I promise to summarize responses, if there are any that
aren't posted to
the group.

Thanks,
Elena

We've used MRBS (http://mrbs.sourceforge.
net/ ) at the Texas Tech main
library for about 6 years and I am pleased with it.

We use MRBS at HKUST Library - works great for us. We
modified the program for some local needs, but the default
package is being updated well.
