LIVE, a member-driven provider of online solutions for
academic and
public libraries in North Carolina, seeks interested and
dedicated
candidates to join the team as an Applications Developer.
The NC LIVE Applications Developer led creation of the
Flash-based
media delivery service (http://media.nclive.org)
deployed in January,
2008. Other recent projects included integration of a new,
federated
search utility (WebFeat), and deployment of new contracted
vendor
subscriptions. Emerging future projects include:
* Content management system / Website redesign
* New search and discovery tool(s) for media collection
* Modular/Widget application development for member
library websites
* Customer relations system for tracking and managing
support
requests from member libraries
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate in the design and development of state-wide
web services
applications based on functional specifications. Manage
assigned
projects and lead the implementation of software
development from
prototype-to-production. Interest in, and ability to
recommend, the
integration of new technologies to enhance customer
experiences.
Provide technical assistance and information, for use by
team members
and external customers. Participate in the iterative
development
process and provide work estimates.
Knowledge and experience in the analysis, design, and
development of
internet applications. Development experience with HTML,
SQL, and
Dynamic Web Content (i.e. PHP, ASP, ColdFusion).
Demonstrated
proficiency in building web-based services using
relational databases.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a
team-based
environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Previous
experience
with the development, documentation, and quality assurance
for large
scale web projects and services. Previous experience with
MySQL, PHP,
Javascript, Perl, XML/XSLT, Flash ActionScript, and Unix
development
environments. Experience in graphical and user interface
design or
content management systems. Experience providing service
and
technology support with or in libraries.
