Wireless barcode readers : justification for introduction

 
I am having a little difficulty with our IT people trying to
get them to
support the introduction of wireless barcode technology for
our library
ILMS (we use VTLS Virtua). Has anyone ever prepared a
justification for
their introduction or able to guide me in winning the war.
I am not even able at this point of time to attempt a trial.
They have
concerns for the network integrity/security etc.
Partially my justification is on the flexiblity of use
rather than our
current cabled devices which are tethered to the front
desks.
I believe I could also argue on the reduction in RSI etc..

Ideas please?
