Drexel University Libraries seek an energetic
service-oriented
individual with excellent leadership, management, and
organizational
skills as Head of Access Services for Hagerty Library.
Located on
Drexel's University City campus, Hagerty Library, together
with the
Health Sciences Libraries and the Drexel College of Law
Library,
supports the faculty, students, researchers, and staff of
Drexel's
thirteen Schools and Colleges. 

 

The Head of Access Services is a senior management position
with
leadership responsibility for a key department. 
Specifically, the Head
of Access Services is charged with: establishing,
implementing, and
assessing circulation policies and practices; maintaining
and stewarding
the collections in Hagerty and in the off-site storage
facility;
developing building access policies and negotiating
reciprocal
arrangements; and taking a lead role in space planning and
collection
management issues. The Head of Access Services oversees the
Hagerty
stacks, the current periodicals collection, the
DVD/streaming video
collections, and the off-site storage collections; manages
overall
circulation of Hagerty Library materials; manages reserve
operations,
including electronic reserves; and oversees the operation of
the 24/7
study facility and group study rooms. The Head takes a lead
role in
establishing the library's calendar and in developing,
publicizing, and
implementing building access policies.  Working with
library
administration, colleagues in Drexel libraries, including
the College of
Law Library, and appropriate University departments, the
Head seeks to
further data sharing and integration between the library
management
system and campus enterprise systems. The Head hires,
trains, and
evaluates five full-time support staff and oversees twenty
to thirty
student assistants. This position has extensive contact with
Drexel
students, faculty, librarians, and administrators, as well
as with
visitors and colleagues in other libraries.  Drexel uses
Innovative
Interfaces'Millenium library management system.
