Hi Joanna

You might want to look at the Federated Searching blog for
some ideas and
resources:

http://federatedsearc
hblog.com/

Also Marshall Breeding has a Library Technology Guides
website which
sometimes talk about federated searching vendors:

http://librarytechnolog
y.org/

I understand Serial Solutions and EBSCO offer federated
searching
products.

Hope this is helpful

Cheers

Hello:

We currently use Webfeat as our federated system for our
databases.
However, we have been having many issues with their tech
support and
response time; it has been taking 2 to 4 weeks for a
database link to be
fixed, etc. I am wondering if anyone has similar issues as
well as *ideas
on other federated searching systems that we can potentially
use in place of
Webfeat.*

Thanks,
Joanna

The reference librarians at my library are interested in
this tool

http://www.sitepal.com/

for our site.

Has anyone considered this as a method for marketing
library
resources/services and personalizing the user experience on
the library
site? This is the first I've heard of it and was wondering
if anyone
else had some thoughts.

Thanks!

I used a version of this a couple years ago on a previous
blog. I had
special "avatar posts" that were read by my
animated avatar. The
reaction was, 100%, terrible, with comments like
"creepy" and "useless"
being most popular. I took it down after about 2 weeks.
