while configuring lighty found it didn't support using a
pipe (with cronolog)
for the error log and after implementing that feature for my
production version
(1.4.11) and updating it for the last 1.4.x release, came
around BUG296 :

lighttpd.net/trac/ticket/296
which has been around for a while and with a (now obsolete)
fix attached.
After checking in IRC uploaded the patches for the current
1.4.x branch and a
similar one for 1.5 so that interested parties can find them
and use them and
hopefully also to get comments on it so that an improved
version can be
committed.
If nothing at least that would close one of those old
tickets for "Operation
Ticket Cleanup".

PS. How can I help closing those tickets? as I'd seen some
of them are also of
interest for my current setup and I could probably provide
for implementations
and others are already fixed in the current releases but
probably need just
some more testing and validation for closing.
