Cesar, I will bring the latest Knoppix 5.0.1., I think
I'll bring the
disclaimer that is given when it's downloaded too. I never
had a Linux
install my Windows installation, but then I never tried it
with Windows XP on
the same hard-drive either. I think all I should bring is
live CD's & DVD's.
People should have an inkling if it's going to work on
their computers. I
won't touch a desktop by the way. Knoppix ALMOST worked on
my old Dell Inspiron
2500, but not well enough. I guess you can get SuSE or
Ubuntu to work on
laptops, but it's more work than I'm going to. You should
see some PClinuxOS,
which I think is about the best for people who are looking
for ways to have an
alternative to Windows, the latest SimplyMEPIS DVD, and
Knoppix. However, if I
bring SuSE at all, it might be 10.0. 10.1 has problems
installing, and people
can just do an online upgrade. I like SuSE, use it every
day, one version or
another, but there's no use for a beginner to get turned
off on SuSE right at
the beginning. ---Jim
