I first found out about this on the SuSE forum, there was a
free version of
VMware out there, also there are some other sites talking
about it. I know some
of the users of the forum have used this product. It still
seems like a
hassle, I don't know enough about it to say, though the
player is out their for
free also from them. You seem to have to go through a lot of
hassle to use
still. It's a good way to turn Windows XP into one big file,
which can be
easily erased and replaced when it goes bad. ---Jim

I use it at home and work.

at work it is my windows XP connection to the network and
when I need to
use MS office for some reason. I also have ubuntu edgy just
for fun.
Tried mepis but hit a snag, will try again.

at home it once again is a XP VM to connect to work, and
certian DVD apps.

might be a little bit of a hassle, but worth it. not having
to boot into
windows to do some simple thing is awesome. Also the
snapshot utility is
really good for testing something out. You have to rerun the

vmware-config.pl every time you get a new kernel, and make
sure you grab
the headers.

Few limitations, audio and video are very basic. Causes
problems when
trying to do video editing and such.

much more feature filled than the player. And for free it is
definitely
worth it.

I should have look up the site given in the email from the
suse forum, since I
think it is more direct, the free one is at the bottom of
the page on this
site. I'll have to think about it. The only things I use
Wine for most of the
time is an old Eudora mail program and solitaire :-[
Running Windows on Qemu,
serve just as useful of purpose. You should try out
opensuse 10.2 in it's
alpha/beta form should be quite good. Mentioning all the
places to run Windows
SuSE is a big pusher of ZEN. ---Jim

Not to promote the downfall of western civilization as we
know it... but you
don't need to run solitaire through wine... there are plenty
of time wasters
in Linux too:
*  games-board/pysol
      Latest version available: 4.82-r1
Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
      Size of files: 3,649 kB
      Homepage: http://www.pysol.org/
Description: An exciting collection of more than 200
solitaire card
games
      License: GPL-2

Oh, and it comes up as "Not Installed" for a very
good reason...
