(third try. I just received an email from the list so maybe
mine will go
through this time)

My DWL-122 hangs quite regularly. Strangely enough this
mostly happens
when I'm reading my mail with pine+ssh. So it's not like
there is a lot
of traffic, but maybe it has something to do with small
packets. Here is
what I get in syslog when it hangs:

Nov 28 11:39:12 oleron kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: wlan0:
transmit timed out
Nov 28 11:39:12 oleron kernel: wlan0 rx pipe reset complete.
Nov 28 11:39:12 oleron kernel: wlan0 tx pipe reset complete.
Nov 28 11:40:12 oleron kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: wlan0:
transmit timed out
Nov 28 11:40:17 oleron kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: wlan0:
transmit timed out
Nov 28 11:40:18 oleron kernel: hfa384x_usbin_callback:
Fatal, failed to resubmit rx_urb. error=-67
Nov 28 11:40:22 oleron kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: wlan0:
transmit timed out
Nov 28 11:40:57 oleron last message repeated 7 times

The first round of messages, at 11:39, is when it manages to
recover
which is something like 9 times out of 10. The messages at
11:40 show
what happens when it completely dies. When that happens the
keyboard
dies too which essentially makes it impossible to do any
postmortem
analysis. As the DWL-122 is a USB key, I'm not entirely sure
if the
problem comes from linux-wlan-ng or the USB subsystem.

Is this a known issue?
What can I do to help diagnose/fix it?

Here is some more detail on my configuration:

 * I'm using the svn sources:
   Revision: 1806
   Date: 2006-11-10T14:28:33.190251Z

 * Modules: prism2_usb and p80211, uhci_hcd and ehci_hcd

 * cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.19acpi (rootoleron) (gcc version 4.1.2
20061028
(prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-19)) #2 PREEMPT Fri Dec 1

This sounds like the old 'prism2_usb device hanging sometime
after a
boot' problem several of us encountered about 18 months ago.

The solution was to tamper with the startup sequence to
delay the prism
card from being initialised until after programs like 'hal'
(which probe
the card) had started. Apparently these prism cards don't
like being
probed once they are operating normally - and there is
nothing that can
be done other than avoiding the probing.

Look back in the list archives for around April or May last
year.

Cheers
Karl
