Sorry if I'm way off here, but I've observed the same behavior for multiple devices with the 2.4 kernel.&nbsp; Frankly, I just assumed that it was forbidden to try and remove a device with a logical interface "up&quot;.  I don't recall ever getting a panic if I downed the interface prior to removal.

Perhaps at the time, the kernel devs didn't think it was worth remedying for 2.4.
