Software Support Engineer at PRN

Premier Retail Networks is the leading provider of digital
video into
retail stores across the country.  We are seeking a Support
Software
Engineer as part of our In-Store Systems Engineering Team.  

This position requires a range of skills that cross the
traditional
boundaries of software development, system engineering and
network
administration.  Typical responsibilities include:

*	Scripting support in perl and bash for both Linux and
Cygwin
environments
*	Advanced configuration and tuning of configuring Windows
and
Linux servers
*	Network support, including switches, wiring, VLANs, DNS
and DHCP
configuration
*	Network troubleshooting, including use of network sniffers
and
test environments
*	Preparation and application of disk images 
*	Performance test preparation and execution, especially for
network and disk systems
*	Multimedia system evaluation, including video capture and
playback 
*	Build and release support, including creation of makefiles
*	Writing installers - usually using InstallShield
*	Writing software utilities and tools to support the team
efforts

This position is in direct support of the software
development team.  No
travel or direct customer support is required.  This
position could lead
to more advanced responsibilities in software development
for the right
candidate.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

- 2+ years experience in system administration or a computer
support
role
- Solid understanding of IP networking and configuration
- Cross-platform experience with Windows and Linux
- Experience with InstallShield highly desirable 
- Basic scripting skills in perl or bash
- Fast learner with a great attitude, willing to get your
hands dirty to
make things work
- Excellent attention to detail 
- Strong sense of ownership and drive for excellence
- Strong personal initiative and desire to deploy working
systems in the
real world
