SENIOR EMBEDDED SYSTEM LEAD/ARCHITECT - LINUX KERNEL
 
Cisco has a current opening for a "Senior Embedded
System Lead/Architect
- Linux Kernel" to work in our Emerging Markets
Technology Group.
 
You will lead the embedded Linux OS development for
Telepresence, a
virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual,
audio, and
interactive technologies to create an "in
person" experience over the
network.  Telepresence is one of the more recent examples of
how Cisco
is changing the way we work, live, play, and learn. 
 
Requirements
 
Proven track record of hands-on, code-developing leadership
of
successful commercial embedded Linux software development
efforts.
 
Extensive knowledge and experience with embedded operating
systems.  
 
Extensive knowledge and experience with Linux versions 2.4
and 2.6,
including, but not limited to I/O interface, device drivers,
and network
interfaces.
 
Experience developing Linux board support packages (BSP) for
various low
level hardware platforms (preferably for PowerPC) and
familiarity with
gcc/gdb tool chain.
 
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills for
difficult
system-level issues. 
 
Thorough understanding of Linux utilities such as system
logging and run
time options.  
 
Experience with tuning Linux kernel for performance
optimization. 
 
Full understanding of open source license and GPL issues.
 
Excellent problem solving ability and technical leadership
skills. 
 
Excellent written and verbal communication.
 
10-15 years of Software Development experience.
 
5 years Linux development, with at least 3 years on embedded
Linux
systems.
