skills?  Benetech has an opportunity for you to apply your
experience
with gnu/linux servers, SQL and filesystem databases, server
security
and networking to build and maintain systems to support our
projects in
literacy, human rights and the environment.  

Primary Responsibilities include:
- Perform Benetech system administration and data processing
tasks
- Administer Benetech's GNU/Linux server installations and
maintenance
- Maintain Bookshare.org server, the world's largest
collection of
on-line accessible books
- Run a highly-secure workstation to manage numerous
highly-secure
Martus Servers for our Human Rights Program
- Implement data processing techniques to support Human
Rights data
analysis projects

The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years experience administering GNU/Linux systems
- Languages: Unix shell scripting, Python, Regular
Expressions
- Experience with relational database administration
(PostgreSQL or
MySQL)
- Experience with and understanding of computer and network
security
- Familiarity with GNU/Linux system administration including
OS
installation/hardening/configuration/maintenance/debugging/b
ackup
- Familiarity with configuring/maintaining/debugging Apache
plus modules
- Experience with networking infrastructure and routing
- Desire to improve your skills, learn new technologies and
work closely
with Senior System Administrator, Product Management and
data-analysis
teams
- Excellent communication skills, detail orientation,
creativity, and a
sense of humor
- Enthusiasm about working for a nonprofit, with other
highly-skilled
software developers

The ideal candidate will have:
- Two years or more of experience working on web based
application
development
- Languages: PHP4/5, Javascript, XSLT, Unix Scripting
- Experience with relational database programming systems
and design
(Mysql, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with XML and XSL transformation
- Experience with client-side Javascript
- Excellent communication skills, detail orientation,
creativity, and a
sense of humor
- Enthusiasm about working for a nonprofit, with other
highly skilled
software developers
