Our venture-backed enterprise software startup is currently
looking for a
contract Senior UI Engineer/PHP Developer (need software
engineer vs.
website development/design) to help their engineering team
complete the
development of first product - currently scheduled for
delivery at the end
of Q1 2007. The initial small team has delivered the first
alpha and looking
to meet their aggressive development milestones. Client’s
Tier 1 target
customers have expressed significant interest in this server
management
software product and looking forward to the next release.
The Web UI engineer will develop a new web-based front end
to the server
management software. The current interface is written in
PHP, but it will be
your recommendation on which languages, tools and patterns
to use. Within
the wider technical team, you will design and implement the
presentation and
application layers and work with the rest of the engineering
team in
extending the SOAP server to meet both your and customer
requirements.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Experience developing enterprise, or device management (or
other data
driven) browser based user interfaces from scratch,
including developing use
cases, working with marketing and customers to refine
requirements.
- Experience developing user interfaces for system
management and
administration.
- Experience and ability to take ownership of the entire
front-end,
including the selection of appropriate technologies and
patterns. Will be
responsible for the next generation of UI architecture.
- Experience designing interfaces for multiple users that
require
authentication/authorization.
- Experience of C/C++, PHP. SQL, or Java would also be
useful.
Preferred skills/experience:
- Prefer experience in consultants who have developed and
supported
commercial products on more than one operating system.
- Linux system software development experience.
- Experience developing shrink wrapped cross platform
products.
- Experience of all stages in the product development cycle
from initial
design through to QA and release.
- Experience developing SOAP or XML-RPC servers and clients,
including
authentication and authorization.
- Experience developing or using system management
software.
- Experience developing database applications (in C/C++) for
major RDBMS
(Oracle/MySQL/SQL Server)
- Experience developing an enterprise product around a
database, including
administration and management tools, backup, recovery, etc
- Experience as a system administrator, end-customers are
systems
administrators.
- Experience with developing for scalable, high available
systems.
This is an initial 2 month contract role to get the product
through the next
release Q1 2007 with the potential to extend beyond for
further development
tasks. May also consider FTE employee.
We are also looking for backend developers as well as QA
people all with
Linux experience.
