Video Software Engineer - DIRECT ONLY

5Bridge Open Solutions has a contract or contract-to-hire
position  
available for a software engineer experienced in the design
and  
implementation of video rendering and display on Linux.  The
 successful 
candidate will be familiar with Mplayer or equivalent  video
player 
software internals, and able to rapidly implement modest 
changes to 
video player software to satisfy our specific requirements 
for use in a 
jukebox-like or kiosk-like environment.  This does not 
require 
experience with codecs, compression, editing, or web 
streaming, but 
experience interfacing with common video/graphics  chipsets
and display 
hardware may be helpful.

BSEE/BSCS or equivalent plus 5 years required.

C/C++ and XML experience required; ooPerl and Ruby may be
helpful.

All modifications made to software will  proceed in full
compliance  
with any applicable licenses (GPL, etc.) and your
modifications  should 
be at a level of quality and integration to allow them to 
easily be 
accepted back into the relevant OSS project(s) if possible.

This work will be done on contract, either at your location
or our  
development office in the Half Moon Bay area, at an hourly
rate  
depending on your experience and background, and will last
at least 1  
month, possibly up to about 6 months and possibly resulting
in a  
permanent hire if mutually desirable.  5Bridge is a small,
dynamic  
company and your ability to independently produce
high-quality  results 
without undue delay is crucial to the success of this
position.
