Can anyone suggest where I can get a good soundfont for
short and
long brush strokes of the type that were very popular in
dance halls for
slow waltzes?

There is a jazz-brush gig kit from wizoosounds that works
nicely
with LinuxSampler.. Not sure it has that much variety in
the
brush sounds, but it is a nice kit overall IMHO

I absolutely love the brush drumkit from Sonic Implants:

shDrumkits

I have the GigaSampler format, but it's also available in
soundfont.

The demo on this one sounds good, but I am confused, how
come it's 24usd
to download but a whopping 180usd for the CD version?

And which version does the demo actually reflect?

Hmm... I think the CD has a bunch of different Gig files,
from all the
different drumkits that they sampled. (In other words, it
is a
collection.) I got the 24usd download version, which sounds
just like
the demos.

Thanks.

I think I may well be exercising my plastic!

Hmmm, just had a look at the shopping instructions. It
offers Mac or
Windows format. No mention of Linux. Is it in fact a zip
file (that can
easily be unpacked) or is it some non-standard thing. I
don't have *any*
Windows kit here.

The "Windows format" is a self-extracting exe
file, which ran fine
under Wine on Linux. It unpacks a bunch of miscellaneous
help files,
etc. but the Gig or soundfont file is in there, too.

Let me know if you have any trouble with it!
