Hi there.
I am looking for the
source codes of the Compaq Professional Linux Developer’s software
used on Alpha Linux – Redhat 7.2.
Specifically:
ccc-6.5.6-002.src.rpm
cfal-1.2.0-3.src.rpm
cfalrtl-1.2.0-3.src.rpm
cpml_ev6-5.1.0-2.src.rpm
cxml_ev6-5.2.0-1.src.rpm
cxx-6.5.9.27-1.src.rpm
ladebug-4.0.65-19.src.rpm
libots-2.2.7-2.src.rpm
Does anyone
on the list have access to these?
Thanks!

Are those on the original installation ISOs or in the
updates? If in the updates, about when were they
released?
I have old installation CDs and updates through about
9/14/02. Answers to the above would save me some time
searching for the RPMs you need.

Maurice,
I seriously doubt that Digi-Paq ever released the actual
sources for their
crown jewels. In the past, I've seen things called 'src'
RPMs that were
actually a framework for packaging binary-only applications
for ease of
installation (older Netscape comes to mind). I have several
versions of
the Linux ccc and cxxx compilers floating around, but all of
them came
from Digi-Paq as plain, old RPM.

Source code? Sources were never released. These were not
open source.

I'm pretty sure i have these on my axppci33, but they're
rpm.crypt, and i
have not yet met anyone who knows any way to do anything
with these type
of files. comcraq supplied them that way without any
instructions on how
to deal with rpm.crypt. I can dig them out if you need. I
got them
under debian, and it seems they always lose crtbegin.o and
crtend.o after
anything is done with apt-get. Needless to say, I really
don't like
debian.

Here's the download page for the binaries:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/linuxdevtools/latest/downl
oads.html
Some of the versions pointed to are a bit later than those
listed before.
Instructions for decrypting are also given.
Unfortunately, the other links on the page, including how to
apply for an
Enthusiast License, are broken, and AFAIK, none are
currently responsible
for handing out the key. I am investigating.
And yes, NO srpms of this stuff were ever released.

There are sources and SRPMS for some utilities on the
website; you can
find such for the binutils and gdb and linuxthreads packages
whose
modifications provided better tool-chain integration with
the major
packages (ccc/cxx/cfal).

Any chance any of the source to the other packages could be
released
now that alpha is no more?

The official True64 support schedule is not ending before
2011, and as
far as I know CCC and friends are pretty much based on the
DEC Unix
compilers. I would not expect any sources before 2011, and
probably not
after that either. Releasing closed source products of that
size is not
a trivial task, especially not the non-technical side
including
clearance on third party rights, patents, etc.
